Reflect on your thinking surrounding your developing a philosophy of Instructional Technology use for learning and your understanding of 21st Century Teaching and Learning. Description
My reflection for Module 4 is based off of the assigned readings including ISTE's Technology Facilitation and Leadership Standards, chapter 3. It is also based off of the content for Module 4 off of Springboard. I have also based this reflection off of the discussion question for Module 4.
Impact
Throughout this learning module I have been thinking a lot about what 21st century teaching and learning is. To me, it means we need to use the technology resources we have available to us in order to promote student learning. The best way to do this is through the TPACK model. It is important that we are not just using technology in our classrooms, just for the sake of saying we use it. It needs to be aligned with pedagogical and content knowledge. This is because students still need to know the content. We cannot keep the content separate from the technology or we will have a class full of students learning content without the use of technology and be using the technology inappropriately for a school setting.
Throughout my philosophy of Instructional Technology I will be discussing why it is important to use TPACK when using technology in the classroom. My philosophy of Instructional Technology has changed so much already as a result of the past learning modules. I have begun to recognize that while technology is important in the classroom, it is also important to use it correctly in order to meet the learning needs of students.
Intent
As a result of this learning module I plan on using the technology I have available to me in order to meet the learning needs of students. I will not use it just to show students cool things that can be done with technology. I will use it appropriately, when applicable, to teach the content my students need to learn in order to be successful.
